Lanark Report - 8/28

Buddy Cap. Dean clued me into a magic inshore fishing spot where he slammed the trout, macks, and blues yesterday. So, I went today. Winds north 5k, light chop as I eased out of Lanark Marina at daybreak.
Netted bait, but it was early in the tide and nothing was biting at the magic spot. Tried the beach, the tip of Dog Island, and some docks. A couple if hits, no fish. Returned to the magic spot, and saw some guys with bent rods. Pulled down a ways, and it was a slam every cast. Biggest "problem" was the mack and blues were more aggresive than the trout, and would kill the baits on the surface before the trout got there, plus cut the mono leader like butter.

At noon I had a limit of trout, 4 at 19" and one 16". Caught three of the biggest macks I have caught this year, and numerous blues, which I released. I was getting too hot and had not drank enough water, and was feeling actually faint from the heat. Decided it was time for some breeze and to force the water. Headed in and by the time I reached Tally I had drunk a gallon of fluid. Felt better.

Stopped at Mike's in Panacea and checked out the Sea Pro 2100V Bay, and the 206 Offshore. I like'em both! These two are on my short list, but it will be a while before I buy, and I will probably buy used. Will take some thought as to which I get.

Luck,

Me too. I am going to get another boat when I retire in a couple of years, and then I will be looking for something a couple of years old.

Luck,

EJ

I was indeed. They lasted about 15 seconds before they were inhaled or knocked into the air.
