Ugliest fish in Apalachee Bay

This morning, I went fishing out of Saint Mark’s in hopes of finding gag grouper near shore where are the winds and seas would be relatively calm. While fishing, I caught three of the ugliest fish in Apalachee Bay. First, I caught a nurse shark that was about 3 feet long. Next I caught a remora. Finally, I caught an oyster toadfish.
Here’s the toadfish:
We did not catch any grouper on this trip. I suspect the grouper bite didn’t happen because of the extremely low tide and strong currents. However, we caught a 16 1/4 inch flounder on a small Bonita strip. We also brought home several white grunts that hit small pieces of Bonita or squid.
I should also mention that the grass flats near the St. Marks were full of pinfish, which we caught for grouper bait. The water wa 79 degrees and very clear. However, there was a lot of floating eel grass which seems likely to foul trolling lures.
