I didn't want to jump in on Flats Rascal's thread, but I wondered how concerned are you on the mecury content of the fish you catch and eat ?
(As Don doesn't catch many, he is excused from responding

)
Is it more of a concern , inshore or offshore ?
What about freshwater fish ?
Are lake fish better/safer than river fish, to eat. ?

The freshwater fish in this area have a higher mercury content than the saltwater fish, because of all the agricultural and commercial runoff.The State publish a bulletin suggesting limiting the amount of freshwater fish intake.

I eat saltwater fish or shrimp four or five times a week. I never think about the possibility of mercury.
Perhaps I should. I dunno.

Flats Rascal, if you click on the link above, they have some tips on how to reduce contaminants by the way you clean and cook your fish.
They don't work for Mercury though.

Flats rascal, I think its only a problem, when the top of your head glows red, on a hot day.

It doesn't seem to affect me all that much as I give a lot of my fish away to my neighbors; the one's with the yapping dachshunds.

"Adults are advised that they can eat two servings a week of many saltwater species. But they are told not to eat shark more than 43 inches in length and king mackerel more than 31 inches in length."
What about Redfish?
