Raw water washdown.

Looking for the least $$ for raw water washdown. Was looking at thru hull for live well and washdown. If the pump does not have two outs, can it just be plumbed that way. And if its plumbed that way how big would the pump need to be.

Most of your washdown pumps have a pressure sensitive cut off, ie the pump only runs when you turn on the power and squeeze the nozzle. I'm not sure you would want to use this $$ pump to continuously run your livewell as well. A dedicated livewell pump would be much cheaper and probably last longer. You should be able to get by with one trough hull pick up for both pumps. You will need a separate above the water line though hull for the livewell over flow if you plan to for the water to recirculate.

Good afternoon DS.

I'm not much of an expert on this but it is my understanding that the raw water wash down pump would be a higher pressure than the live well pump. You just might end up with to much pressure in your live well and wind up with scaleless pinfish??

Course you might stumble across something good in that if you put your catch in the live well by the time you get home they'd already be scaled for ya

WOW.

Doing a search on the net, and came across a couple things where someone used a bigger live well pump, and plumbed off it for a washdown. Might not be alot of pressure, but enough to clean up a mess or two, not a total cleaning.

Don, my daughters Aquasport has one pump, one hull intake, and a directional valve to send it to the livewell or the washdown. Came from the factory that way. Don't know the size of the pump, but it works very well for both jobs.

My boat uses the aeriator pump for the washdown. There's a valve that switches between the two.

I agree with Sir on this one. I use the same method, but only with tap water, that RAW water is bad for your boat...
