Arrived at Aucilla landing about 0730 to find only 3 rigs there. One boat was loading onto their trailer. Yamaha wouldn't start.
The river water was dark as ink....but no matter...we weren't fishing the river. Went on out to the mouth...turned left toward Ecnofina....went about 1 mile. Stopped in 3-4 feet. Couldn't see the prop on the outboard....dark...dark water. Went out about 2 miles....still no clear...or partiallly clear water.
Went about 3 miles to the right of Aucilla River...toward St Marks and started fishing...in spite of the dirty water. The wind was about 10 mph....borderline rough. Got wet everytime we moved. Nothing at all took the jigs or lures...on C/T's. Went on out to the 7 foot depth....2 or 3 short trout were caught...in dark water.
Went on fishing westward and wound up close to Peter and Paul Rocks.....six miles to Aucilla River on the gps. Wind was hi all morning. Only 2 boats were sited all day on the flats...which wern.t flat
Total catch for the day was 3 keeper trout (2 @ 17 in, and 1 just barely over 15 in) and 10 short trout. All were caught on C/T....jigs of all colors. Green was best.
All in all for 2 guys that hadn't been to the flats in 6-8 weeks...we got a mess of fish. Never did find any clean water. :P Quit about 2 PM.

Lots of fresh tannin water has been dumped in the gulf. But, not a bad day for the adverse conditions,

Glad you got some keeper trout, but even "gladder" that you shared your day! It's nice to hear about the outcome from those rivers over thataway: Beautiful place and just exploring it is a treat. Thanks!
