We mighta PLACED

if our CAPTAIN woulda got us to the weigh-in, DB!

[Is "last" a place?] I think that db, as our CAPTAIN, and as the acknowledged teller of tall tales, OUGHT to do our report!

How deep were we, anyway, and what colors worked other than the white curly tail I used that caught MY only short?
Let me report that I won our mini tournament, on our boat of three. I may post a picture later, but I am not home right now. I am at work,

or can't you tell.
Oh, db did catch the MOST "fish."

Thankfully, he didn't get his cobia yet.

The day was interesting more in conversation than anything biting our baits. Overall, the fishing was slow in our area and we encountered alot of dark water.
It was great to see Bill and great to meet Casey, they are really highly skilled fishermen.
Bill- don't forget to "STICK HIM!!! AND SET IT!!!!" when you are using those J-hooks.
Oh yea- got these nice sunrise shots. Otherwise, Aucilla's camera did the recording this trip out.

I guess I will give the low down. Had two great partners. I have fished with Aucilla before, always a pleasure. First encounter with iamhybrus. Great guy, I can highly recommend him as a partner.
We met at 0545 at Jerry’s for the take off for the KA tournament. 3 per boat, best 2 reds, best two trout. We were the third boat in before sunrise. Nothing better than sunrise on a river headded south. The river was smooth, not so S of the LH. E wind, very ugly. Choppy. We tried the bars W of the LH first thing hoping for a hookup on some reds, no dice.
We then proceeded .75 mi. south of the LH in some grass hoping for some trout figuring we could come back on the falling tide for some reds. IAM and Aucilla were slaying the pins for bait. IAM caught a lizard, a toad, etc. We then worked our way into the first creek east of the LH, we got out of the wind, IAM hooked a short speck. We spent about 30 minutes there, and tried the flats again due south in 3.5’, nothing.
Decided to run to the garden, why not-nothing else was working. Rough ride. Wind still out of the E at 10-15. We stop and the fun begins. Yours truly caught a 15â€

I just want to say that I am LMAO! Thanks guys! It was a blast! All I got was a communion with sunRISE:
Also got a good day on the water with TWO able fishin' folks misinterpreting my demeanor for something other than ONE KA Fishin' Fool!
My other pictures ["SET it! SET it!] didn't turn out, but who cares! The smoker will be billowing soon!
I had a ball, in retrospect!

Seriously, db is one heck of a, uh, REPORTER!
We chased the fish in adverse conditions, we fought them off, and then we [briefly] partied with the frat folks.
We slayed 'em!
Truthfully, db and iam were great company. We FOAO. AND, thanks to db's careful use of the gps system, I think I might have maybe had a chance, somewhat, and perhaps had on, and mighta couilda caught, MY FIRST FC! That would be my First Cobe! db is wanting his too.
But those guys tortured me: "SET it! SET it!!"
Had fun. Beats anything, 'cept winnin' the tourney. And it was such a fun, informal tourney that I will be lookin' for it next year! Thanks db for being our Capt'n; and thanks IAM for comin' along and for joining us in our humble lil' Big Bend Forum.

You guys sound like you did great and had a good time. I wish I could have fished the tournament. I am nursing a cracked rib, and have been flat on my back most of the weekend.
Nice report DB & Aucilla & Iam-
Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures of the sunrise.

Man, Aucilla, your sunrise picture came out better than mine!!
Rocket- would have liked to meet you too, had no way to recognize ya though.

Iam, Me and Rocket were easy to recognize. We were the first ones to weigh in, and once are weight was announced, demanded that Scott declare us out loud "CURRENT LEADERS"

. I always wanted to hear that after my weigh in.

Fine report. One of the best pictures I've seen of sunrise on the St. Marks. Whats the old saying..."red sky in the morning, sailor take warning" It was red for sure.
