Apalachicola Bay 10/13 and 10/14

Windy, Windy, Windy. Did I mention it was windy. I arrived at Bay City Tuesday PM to a strong west wind.
We had high hopes that it would lay down some before day light. Wednesday morning was beautiful. We had a falling tide and a fair west wind that would eventually turn unbearable as the day went on. We were at the old St. George bridge at daylight Wednesday morning.
That action was immediate. We anchored about 20 yards off the bridge and fished on the bottom. I had 4 guys on the boat and we iced 4 reds in less than 15 minutes. The largest was 24 and the shortest was 21. We decided to have a little more fun while the bite was hot and were able to release 8 or 9 more that were in the slot.
All in all we caught about 15 reds and a few sheeps head. No trout wer eon the brigde so we headed for the oyster bars. By 9:30 the wind had really picked up and the tide was slack. We missed the trout bite that came early, but another boat that was with us limited out on trout while we were whippin the red fish. All in all it was a good day.
Thursday morning was a whole new world. Blue bird skys and smooth water.
We started at the bridge again, but it was a new day. Lots of bait stealers and the reds were hard to come by. We ended up with 2 keeper reds and to our pleasure 5 nice trout. Just shows you that every day is different. We couldn't buy a trout bite at the bridge the day before. By mid morning the wind picked up a little and we moved into the creeks. Fishing was really slow because the tide was slack. We did pick up one more red on a white grub in the little st mark. Day total was 3 keeper reds, 5 specks, 2 white trout, 2 whiting and 2 black bass. Here are the rewards of the day.
We had fun and I guess that is all that really matters. I came home with a nice sack of filets and a few dozen fresh oysters to enjoy this weekend. Headed to Alabama for the Archery season opener, so no more fishing this week!! Hope the wind backs off for those of you that will get to fish. Time for those oysters
