A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
Correct. The console switch is only for manually turning it on. The float switch is suppossed to be hot all the time and only comes on when the water in the bildge gets to a high enough level.
So you have been leaving that switch on all the time? If so its a wonder your haven't drained you batteries.

Just raise the float with your finger or a screwdriver.
Thats the way we tested floodin alarms aboard us Navy vessels. It is an acceptable test and not near as much trouble as floooding the bilge.
