THE TWO OLD MEN OF THE SEA LAUNCHED THE BOAT AT THE LIGHTHOUSE POOL AT 7 A.M. WE WORKED THE BAR IN FRONT OF THE LIGHTHOUSE WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. WORKED ON EAST CLOSE IN TRYIN TO FIND SOME REDS , DID NOT SUCCEED IN THIS EITHER. WE WENT OUT TOWARD #1 STAKE AND STARTED CATCHIN SHORTS. MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT WE ENDED UP CATCHIN 28 TROUT, 2 LADY FISH, 2 ROCK BASS, 1 BULLHEAD CAT, AND MANY PINFISH FOR 6 HOURS OF FISHIN.. ONLY CAUGHT 3 IN THE SLOT, 1-15 1/2 , 1-16, 1-18 1/2, THAT WAS IT. THE WATER IS STILL VERY DARK, COULD ONLY SEE GRASS IN ABOUT 2' OF WATER. THE WIND WAS OUT OF THE SSE AT ABOUT 5-10 THE TIME THAT WE WERE OUT, WEATHER WISE IT WAS PERFECT, FISHING WISE IT STUNK.

Pa, you and Carl have caught all the fish east of the St. Marks River. You're gonna have to go west, or further east.

I think all the storms churned the flats up. It hasn't been good for months. What few fish I've caught were way east.

At least you were out there. But like TC said you all have caught all the trout.

THANKS JOHN FOR THE TIP, WE DID NOT GO FURTHER THAN ABOUT HALFWAY BETWEEN #1 AND #3. I THINK NEXT WEEK WE WILL TRY ST.JOE BAY, IT HAS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I HAVE BEEN OVER THERE BUT THE WATER HAS ALWAYS BEEN CLEAR THE TIMES I HAVE BEEN.

Almar, you will not be dissapointed in St. Joe bay, for I was there last weekend and the water was crystal clear. That being said, I didn't do so well on the catching aspect of the trip. I did land a beautiful 5lb Speck so it wasn't a total loss.

Thanks for the report. I went out Sat 16th from LH at low tide around 11:00 went east past Grey Mare. Fish were far and few between. Wind was gentle, slightly overcast, floating grass wasn't a problem but the water was so heavy with silt you couldn't see 1 ft deep. Fished with every bait in boat including live shrimp, pinfish, lots of artificials but the best bait of the day by far was a clear DOA with glitter on a green CJ. That rig caught more fish that the other two of us caught put together but mostly shorts.

By late afternoon the wind started blowing and the waves picked up and the day was done. Three of us ended up with seven trout and three huge sailcats. None of us had ever eaten sailcats and it was reported back to me that the catfish stew made with them was deemed the "best" they remembered. This was from people who eat/cook fresh water cats regularly!

St Joe Bay, one of my favourite places and according to the reports, its fishing well (no dirty run off water).

THANKS FOR THE REPLY BRIAN, WE HAVE ALREADY MADE OUR MINDS UP TO GO THERE TUES. THE ONLY PROBLEM BEING IT IS SO DARN FAR, ABOUT 200 MILES ROUND TRIP, THERE GOES 4 HRS. OF FISHING, BUT IF YOU ARE CATCHIN QUALITY FISH IT IS NOT TOO BAD.

Almar - we live in Thomasville and it is worth every mile when we go to St. Joe. The water is almost always clear and beautiful. Plus you just might luck into a pompano.

THANKS FOR THE TIP ON ST.JOE, THE LAST TIME WE WENT THERE WE LIMITED OUT IN ABOUT 2 HOURS OF NICE GOOD QUALITY TROUT AND REDS. I LOVE TO FISH THE FLATS WHEN THERE ARE SPITS OF WHITE SAND IN THE GRASS, NEARLY EVERY TIME YOU CAST TO THESE SAND SPITS YOU WILL GET A STRIKE OF SOME KIND. THANKS AGAIN.
