St. Marks area reef production???

I plan to spend 10 hrs on the water on Friday with one of my neighbors. I will hit the usual inshore haunts for red, spotted weakfish, macks, and whatever else. Weather permitting I would like to venture slightly off shore. Not as far as south of '24'. I have been to ballard before, not sure I was on top of it, no luck.
Questions are:
1. Do St. Marks, Rotary, and Ballard produce at this time of year?
Thinking of bottom fishing w/pins and squid. and possibly trolling. I can ID rocky bottom.
2. Can hard bottom be as productive as rocky bottom?
3. What will holey bottom look like and can I find it in <25'?
4. Seems sand bottom is common around changes in bottom depth.
Is sand bottom good for anything?
Its a big gulf. I am not looking for #'s. Just an idea of what bottom and depth I should be looking for.
Still Learning

DB, I caught fish in 25' of water Sunday. The public reefs will produce. But I'm gonna let you in on a secret that you can't tell anyone. OAR supervises most of the reef construction. They choose the reef sights. The bottom has to be substantial enough to maintain the artificial reef (hard bottom). If the bottom isn't substantial, the reef will actually sink into the bottom in a very few years. That said, you can start at the public numbers, and start cruising around with one finger on the mark button.
Any hard bottom will hold fish. Finding holey bottom is difficult. The holes don't show up on the bottom machine. However, if it's hard (rock), there are propably holes and crevaces.
I've never been very sucessful on sand. I have, however, been sucessful around grass patches.
Again, these are secrets. You can't tell anyone.

I, also would be honored to fish with you. However, I won't share an adult beverage with you. I'll ask my wife for a little extra cash so I can buy enough adult beverage so we can both have our own.

DB-
Just like TC says. I watched the bottom machine and it all looks the same. When you see something irregular/different, mark it
Great Links DB
