Me and the wife put the boat in at the Fort around 3:30 and headed down river. Saw a fellow boater with his two teen age sons sitting in the channel. He was in an old 22' Mako with a mercury motor that had quit on him on the way back in. I had just passed the Sea-Tow and 4 other boats that were headed back in. Seems that no one had even stopped to offer them assistance. Sure enough, I ended up towing him back to the ramp. I was amazed the old Tin Can II could pull such monster with such ease. Guided the old Mako in to the ramp and headed back down the river.

Went out mostly for a sunset cruise. Traveled a litte east of the lighthouse and set up a drift toward the shore. Only a few bites and no takers. Moved westward toward the wreck and witnessed the sunset. Snapped a few pics of the lighthouse on the way. Jsut for fun, we sat on the wreck on the out-going tide with some froz shrimps and pulled up a few croakers. Wife had never seen or heard a croaker bark.

Otherwise just had a little saltwater shower in the 1-2's and the 10-15 winds. The water was like "coke" with 1.5' visibility and 79 degrees. Came back in with the running lights shining and nothing in the cooler, but we did a good deed and enjoyed a bumpy wet ride in the TC II. It was a nice 3 hour tour.

Good for you, MJ. I did a similar thing once, by towing in a 24' Walkaround, loaded with the family, with my 17 footer. They were stuck in the river and people were just zooming by.
I stopped and helped. Maybe that will help someday if it happens to me. Either way, it feels right.

Good to hear you also helped someone. You never know when you might be the one stranded on the river. I make it a point to check on folks sitting in the channel. If the're not fishing, something must be wrong. It is what I call a nautical courtsey.

Good deal, MJ. There are still a few of us out there that are willing to help someone. I've towed several boats.

BTW, The TCII towed a 20' boat 15 miles one afternoon. She'll do it just fine.
