Do handheld Lorans work worth a crap??? I've heard yes, and no.
I've got #'s to convert, but hate to buy a fixed mnt.
Also, what is the minimum distance the antennas for the gps, and loran need to be apart? I've been told 4', 6'. My gps has an internal antenna. Does that matter?

If you have a handheld gps......you don't need a loran of any kind.
I had a fixed mt Loran...till gps came out....and then I got rid of it.I've had a handheld gps for 6-8 years.....with map. It works great. I also have a fixed mt gps. The handheld is for backup.

The only reason I would use the handheld loran would be to get to the #, then find it on my bottom machine, then mark it on my gps.

No experience on the handheld loran.

I've got the loran and vhf within a couple of feet with no problem.
