Sounds like Spring Creek is just like it was during my trips there while in my youth.....treacherous. Haven't been there in years....but you described it perfectly. Looks like the best place on earth to fish with all those oyster-bars.
I know you know those sail cats are good eating.
I call "white drum" , drum. They look a little like sheephead. Caught a nice one at Econfina last week.

I appreciate everyones comments and applause
My report seems more like a navigation narrative, but at least we caught something. I hated cleaning those cats. If my girl wasn't with me I would have let them go. She insisted on keeping them. Shelley's casting skills are improving with every trip. She would het sooo excited when one of those big cats got on the other end. I enjoyed watching her reel them in. Every fishing trip I take the kids along is a true adventure
The "white drum" are actually just "whiting"

A black drum--
A whiting--
Which one? I've caught a few black drum around the oyster bars at St. Marks, but I've never run into whiting around oyster bars--usually get them at the beaches. Is it common to get whiting at the oyster bars?

A great day on the water with your daughter is a day to be cherished!
It just doesn't get any better than that!
