Keaton Beach 11-20-04

After chasing a overheating problem on my Suzuki for the past few weeks, I finally decided to do what I should have done to start with, take it to an authorized service center. I took it to Jack's Boats in Perry late Thursday afternoon. He called me late Friday afternoon to tell me he had it ready. I took my sweet time to go get it Saturday morning and figured if I was going to drive all the way from Thomasville to Perry I might as well put it in the water even though the recent reports I had been reading weren't very promising. A boat test with any fish as a bonus.
Finally, the fishing report, I put in at the public ramp at Keaton about 1PM. Nervous about getting to far away until I had confidence that the overheating problem was truely fixed, I started fishing just out of the channel markers in 3-4 ft. of water. Picked up a short and a keeper in the first 20 minutes on shrimp under CT. The drift was a bit fast but the bite was steady most of the afternoon. After lots of moving around to further check out the boat between Keaton Beach and Spring Warrior, I ended up with 4 keepers and should have had the fifth but got lazy on one and didn't use the net (yes I know better than this). The largest was approx. 22 to 23 inches (Ice chest only goes to 20") on a Pin Fish.
Boat ran great, THANKS JACKS BOATS, and fishing was great. I usually take a fishing partner but with the recent boat troubles I wanted to go it alone. Ever now and then it's good to go by yourself and really appreciate how blessed we are...
