Decided to fish "scientifically" today. Low tide at 1009hrs. Arrived at the ramp at 1215 hrs. Gonna fish the rising tide (1636hrs). Launching was unaventfull. Had plenty of water at this time. Went on down the river to where I had the pelican encounter 2 weeks ago...at the entrance. Not a pelican in sight. Started fishing...topwater m/l, catch 2000...jigs. Got a few hits...no takers. Finally got l keeper on catch 2000..red/white. Spot fizzled out. Moved west of the river and got 1 more keeper trout on m/l...in close.
Went over the the rock garden....where I heard they were tearing it up..earlier. Zero.
Tide was now high...so headed back to the river pole. Nothing. Quit about 1730 hrs with 3 trout...1 throw back red (on m/l no less) At times the flats were as slick as an onion.. Wind was no problem.
Better than a half day at work. Beautiful weather. Too hot. Mess of fish.

I do a lot of that scientific fishing. Yesterday was 4 days after the full moon. Good tide movement. I believe the wind was out of the nne.
Did you note the water temp? It was in the upper 50's last Friday.
All that considered, I think the fish skipped science class. My son said he thinks they're in transition (translation-I have no idea where the fish are

). That's why they call it Fishin.
Better than a half day at work.

Water temperature was up to 64 degrees on the flats....it was 61 in the river. Same as it was 2 weeks ago. Here it is Dec. 1 st...and no frost yet. Did catch one trout about 1/2 mile up Aucilla River.
Hope the picture of the bigun didn't give away my secret spot #2.

I did, if you can believe it, catch a trout smaller than the one in the picture. He just did not post that one. I think it hatched and turned it's head to pick up my grub.
I was put in the back of the boat instead of the front and got to take care of the nursery. And I left work for THIS !!!
Had a really good day with my best friend and most loved Father-In-Law anyway, so it beats working.
