It was cold and windy. I didn't catch a fish. Chalk caught 2 largemouth bass, 1 mangrove snapper, and 1 keeper trout. He also lost the money fish because of faulty tackle. He whined all day about bad line, a bad reel, and his secret weapon didn't hold up to a good size redfish. Now, he's gonna tell ya that he lost the fish because I didn't have a net in the boat. Don't listen to that crap! He never got the fish close enough to the boat to net. He stayed mad at me the rest of the day. I didn't think much of it until it was time to load the boat and he deliberately backed my trailer into the concrete wall on the side of the ramp. I'll probably have to get a new trailer now. I tell ya, that boy tears up more of my stuff than I can keep fixed.
Seriously, the water temp 3 miles down river from the fort was 59 degrees. It was whitecapping at the intersection of the St. Marks and The Wakulla. It was a miserable day to fish. But the companionship was good.
Here are some of the motley crew that fished today.
From left to right, Sir Reel, DoubleD, Chalk.

DARN !
And I had to miss it
Sounds like you all had allot of fun and fellowship
I could have delivered blow by blow pictures, especially the ones
where Chalk slammed your trailer into the concrete wall at the ramp
You could have placed a claim in your insurance to replace your trailer
It was windy up here all day, and just got windier as the day progressed
Good Report TC

Man my back hurts from toting someone yesterday, but I'm use to it

......Lets back up to Friday and start from there.....I think my first mistake was washing my truck, it hadn't seen soap since I moved down in August (must of washed my mojo off).....Headed to the Cans can about 1:00ish and took the scenic route....I was going to stop at my redfish hole on the way, but when I saw some 3 footers breaking over the second sand bar I didn't stop

......I cruised through Apalachicola...saw the 25 Everglades, but no sign saying Merry Xmas, Chalk...From TinCan

....
Arrived at TCs at 5:00 my time.....I walk in not knowing what to expect, heard tales of a goat and a sandwich before leaving, so I didn’t know what was in order for the night.....I am greeted at the door...I come in to an aromatic smell of butter beans, seasoned cubed potatoes, grilled chicken & pork chops and home made biscuits.......
Everyone please sit down Prepared by Chef Tincan......I have a fine meal with Mr & Mrs Tincan.....(TC...I need some of that BBQ sauce

).....We commence to tell lies and talk about fishing and plan our strategy for success the next day....ended the evening watching Tred Barta.......I slept somewhat well, had one nightmare....I thought TC had sneaken into my room with some lingerie made with colorado blades and fishing line......glade it was a nightmare

.....
We woke up to the dreaded Northwest wind...I prayed it would stay west, but it didn't.....We are the first to arrive at the ramp....We put our second layer of clothes on in a hurry and they stayed on all day......I backed the huge truck and boat down the ramp just fine in the dark

....Sir Reel shows up and Jumptrout51, had a dog fight and we launched boats....TyoneOn and few other members showed up.....we had to find Sir Reels primer bulb so he could crank up...I told him if he fished a little more he wouldn't have this problem...
We leave the ramp and arrive at our destination....within 10/15 minutes...I lock into what I believe to be an overslot red....I have already had my recommended Ande backcountry 12# line break due to slight backlash, I'm talking about just two/three loops as I was pulling it out, I found the end that I wasn't expecting..SOB

...So this wimpy line is in the back of my mind, the huge redfish is next to an oyster bar...I'm thinking wimpy line, oyster bars, keep the fish off the bar and TC says I forgot the net...I'll lip gaff him he says

...This red just erupts on the surface and turns takes drag and the line goes limp...I have a lump in my throat and my buddy on the pulpit says,â€

TC, it's obvious you two have a great relationship. Families who play together, stay together. Y'all are related, Right??
Sounds like a fair day for all, considering the conditions (cold, windy and white cappy).
With a notion for a first hand report, I rode over to the park, but didn't get there 'til about 3:30 or so. 'Guess, I should have looked to see, when the weigh in was gonna be.
It appeared most had left already, with a few rowdies still there, telling war stories and wettin' their whistle.
The group adjouned to another location, and I took the time to walk around the Fort, since it was my first time to visit the area since 1960
(except by boat a couple of times). Interesting..
I'll be sending in my app to join, soon. You guys have too much fun.

Just so TC and Chalk can participate, next year you get points just for saying you had a fish on.

'Sorry, to hear about loosin' that big red and sorry I missed meeting you guys.
'Appears y'all missed the good conditions by about 24 hours...
Like you say, 'maybe it'll be better next year'.

I love that hat you had on too...I'm getting a raccoon one and I'm getting TC a skunk (

) for next year...

The hat will give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside.
P.S. If you want a dependable line switch to the Berkley Big Game line.
P.S.S. Racoons' are sneaky(I'll keep an eye on you next year) Skunks are what happen anytime you fish with T.C.

Well, don't keep me in suspense, who won the tournament, and what was caught by the other anglers? By the way, I have had good luck with clear/blue Stren so far. It doesn't seem to have a good memory for prior backlashes.
Sounds like your day was better than mine. I went Duck hunting with Rocket, and met the Man on the hill afterwards. He gave me enough citations to wrap most of my Christmas presents with this year. It seems that they frown on hunters not having any kind of license or I.D. on them

. Maybe Rocket will remind me to bring my wallet on our next outing.
Fish/Duck Masterson

P.S. maybe we should name Rockets new Duck boat the "Citation" as we have broken it in accordingly

Chalk, you may be on to somethin' there. Just don't have TC model it. I can see the Bass Pro and Cabela's line now...
