Weather man was wrong again but, this time it was a good thing. That 20 knt NW wind died late Saturday and Sunday morning was a gentle breeze out of the SE. We decide to give the close in spots a try before heading home. Lowest tide I have ever seen in the river. Stopped by the Moorings fuel dock and had to climb up the top of my boat to reach the dock. Rounded the East end of DI and the seas were 1-2 ft. Frist spot was in 29 ft and nothing was home. Move to spot #2 in 31 ft and the bite was on. Frist gag was a 27". Stayed in the same general area for the next two hours and the final was:
6 gags 28-25"
4 short gags
2 short reds
2 red snapper, out of season
various sea bass and grunts
1 2ft octupus
1 2ft lizzard fish (biggest one I had ever seen)
Seas slicked over by the time we headed back in around 12:00. Great day on water with my son and it's gonna be grouper fingers for dinner tonight
