Cranfill....do you really live in merry ol England? Those pictures you sent the other day looks a lot like South Georgia....except we have had no frost yet. Gonna get it tonight though.
That owl is to same as the coast residents use the owl for....it scares off pesty birds and other critters.. Works...most of the time.
The picture is of a channel catfish...beautiful fish. We put them in this pond 3 1/2 years ago as 4-5in fish. Dexie Reb has already caught 10 pounders. They grow like weeds....if you feed them.

Fisherman989, i don't live in Merrie England, more like, quite bright and cheerful England.
I have seen plastic herons on ponds supposedly to deter the real birds, but they end up getting pecked to pieces.
I have seen model hawks flown under kites to keep small birds out of fruit orchards.
But I have never seen a model owl used as a deterrant.
I use them to attract magpies, jays and crows. A large teddy bear with big glass eyes works just as well.

About half the docks at Keaton have owls on them now. I have no clue how effective they are. If you are cleaning fish, the birds will come !

Yeah Flats, but most of them Owls on the Keaton canal are hard to make out. the're so covered with bird crap, they're disgised as dock post.
