Posted on FS site but thought I'd post here as well. Caught a 16" grouper in 4.5ft of water out of Keaton beach. Isn't that very unusual ?

Not really. I have caught and lost some that big or bigger in that shallow before. Isn't the net ban wonderful?

Yes it is. First grouper I've ever caught. Hopefully won't be the last !

I have caught one or two each of my last 3 trips down to your area, in 4-6 feet. Terrific!

Fished the Chassahowttzak river once with a friend....we caught all kinds of small grouper in less than 8 feet of water..I caught at least 10 that day from 15 to 8" long...we were fishing for trout what a trip on light spinning gear....what a nice trip and you guys are right about the net banning......

Man i wish they would have the net ban here in Alabama!
