Ochlocknee River 12/18

Post by DuctTapeKing »

Got to the mashy sands boat ramp just in time to see the "Red Hour"....Lovin it!!!! Rgharris and myself ran up river. Temp at the mouth early in the morning was 50. After running up river a bit my jaw was frozen over... Lovin it!!! Temp in the river was 53. Saw Wevans fishing artificials. We fished a well head with shrimp on jig heads. At the well head the water temp was 56. We caught 6 mangrove snappers and a small sheeps head. We also got bites almost every time we threw out. Lovin it!!! We headed out to the bridge at Ochlocknee Bay for the last hour of the falling tide. Put out some chum and proceded to catch 15 short trout, 1 short flounder, 1 keeper trout 16 1/2 inches and fat. We also hooked a big red...got him to the boat and he spit the hook. Not lovin it!!! Headed in just in time to take care of a sick wife and child. Off the water at 1:30. It was a beautiful day on the water and a great day of fishing and we didn't have to spend to long cleaning fish. We fished all day with shrimp on a jig head.

It was a great day fishing! Only wish we could have gotten that big one on the boat at least for a pic. It was nice to put a face to Wevans... I've read so much of his post because I've been told he knows where the fish are in the areas I'm trying to learn..... Hope you all have a great Holiday! Stay safe and wear a life vest...... Its not comfortable out of the water but it sure is in the water!

We put in at Bro's 3 as planned and headed up river in search of some bream. Actually I was lookin more for bass and my dad was fishing for bream  We tried a couple of holes in the main river with zero bites. It wasn't until we started fishing the holes in the secondary creeks that we caught fish. Most were caught in the holes in the bend of the creek. We caught 11 bass with 2 keepers and a few bream to stink up the pot. I missed alot of fish for some reason :o . Oh well, It was a great day on the water with my dad. Headed offshore Thursday for some Groupa!
