Anyone heard of Hurricane Redbone Rods?

Greetings Folks....

My step dad took me shopping for Christmas and let me pick out a rod and reel. So I went to Sport's Authority. For the reel, I picked up a Stradic 4000 FG. (smooth...) :smt041

For the rod, I allowed the salesman to convince me to get a Redbone reel by Hurricane. Here's the stuff on the label:

High Modulus IM7 Blank through handle construction;
Fuji Graphite Reel Seat;
Fuji Hardloy Guides
retail $89

Both the Rod and Reel had 20% off.

Has anyone had any experience with this Hurricane Redbone Rod? :smt017

Please advise...

Many Thanks,

Dale Hollow

By the way, the salesman wouldn't give me a straight answer, but it looks like the Sports Authority will be doing their annual 25% off the total sale on New Year's Day. He told me and winked and said to watch for the coupon this week in the paper.

I was in Sports Authority yesterday and saw those rods. They looked nice, but I do not think they have been around for very long. Let us know how it works. Should be a nice combo with your shimano.

I have 2 Redbone offshore trolling rods. I love them.

If I'm not mistaken, part of the profit from every redbone rod sale goes toward research to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

IMO, they are well made rods for the money.

I have three bait casting and one spinning rod. I am very satisfied with all of them. I am an inshore fisher and these rods are perfect.

I have a Redbone spinning rod that I have used for 2 years now. It is one of my favorites. 7' meadium action. I use it mostly bass fishing with trick worms now.

I have 2 Redbones. One light & one heavy spinning. One salesman told me the blanks were Loumis. The are the best rods I have ever used (so far).

Actually, I believe the Sports Authority in the Tallahassee Mall has a better selection. The old Oshman's store.

Good choice on the Rod and Reel. My buddy's got that same combo and he loves it!

If you're going to buy one from Sports Authority, just look through the local paper and there usually have a 25% off coupon once a week or so. It's an easy way to save a little money.

The one in Tally Mall definitely has a wider selection.

Dale,
I have had 2 Red Bone rods, lost 2 nice tarpon when they broke. Took the first one back to Sports Authority and they replaced it. The second one I took back and they told me they would not replace it. They both broke on the first fish.......

I'm sorry about the sports authority not replacing the 2nd rod for you. If you ever plan on buying a new one, you can use this Sports Authority coupon to knock off some figures off that price tag. I think that's for a 10% discount, and i hope it helps you out. Good luck on your fishing km32359
