Put in at the public ramp about 8:30 a.m. Ran south about 1 mile and set up a drift in 2'-3' water. Fished this area all day. Bite was extremely slow. Caught 5 keeper trout and 1 throwback on a chartreuse Catch 2000. Only way I could get a trout to bite was to count to 25 between twitches. It was painfully slow fishing. Fellow at the lift at Keaton Beach Marina said the action had picked up the last couple of days. A friend of mine caught 9 keepers on topwater mirrolures Sat. Come on spring!

I had someone give me and a friend a charter w/ Pat Mcgriff (One More Cast guide service) years ago in Keaton. He had us fishing similar to that:
1) Cast, pop cork 3 times, to alert fish of bait, and count to 30.
2) Pop cork 2 times, in case fish needs help locating the bait, and count to 20.
3) Pop cork once, count to 10.
4) If no fish, reel'em up.
I'm sure the guy catches alot of fish and all, but it made for a damn long day!

Must have taken allot of patience, but it's the "presentation that counts", and this time of year at these water temps, them fish and their appetites must be sluggish.
Way to GO

That was a good 'un.
Lemme ask maybe a dumb question: Were y'all jiggin' under a cork/flats buster? With the jig on the bottom?
I have never gone out of Keeton, and it is interesting to see water so shallow so far out.....
That's Apalachee Bay I guess...

Aucilla-- I was fishing with a catch 2000 mirrolure . The coastline at Keaton Beach runs pretty much north and south. I was only about 300 yds off the shoreline. You ought try Keatons sometime its about the easiest place I've found to fish.
