Has anybody heard of anything "speck" wise going on at Talquin? I'm getting jettery waiting for something to start.
A friend of mine and his wife went last Tuesday to Talquin. They caught 2....and said most people there had from 1 to 5 tops.

They're still "up the lake" I'm told. I fished from Ingram's to the dam a couple of weeks ago and came up empty. Should start picking up by march, hit or miss til then.

Howdy!
Went out there today as a matter of fact! We put in at Coe's landing around 10:30 am after stopping at Carey's to get a few dozen "minners".
Fished the "Iron Curtain" all afternoon and only boated 1 keeper. She was a hoss too! Probably 1.5 lbs and measured 17 inches. She was fat full of eggs. Caught a couple more 'shakers', and we were done for the day around 4 pm. Fished the Iron Curtain all afternoon, along with the 10-12 other boats trolling up and down the creek channel.
Saw quite a few other minnow fisherman along the wall, but most were trolling the usual 12-57 poles out the back. The good fish I did catch was in 21 ft of water about 2 reels off the bottom on a live minnow. Kinda windy, but it laid down late and was very nice. Took the 4 year old and another fishing buddy. Had a nice day on the lake. Only a few other folks were catching fish here and there. Mostly really small ones. I talked to quite a few fisherman, and everyone thought it was still a bit "early" for 'em! I give it about 2-3 more weeks with some consistent warmer weather and it should be really picking up! I kept that big hoss female and turned her loose in the neighborhood pond to make for better fishing on the specks - I hope.
Check with Carey's before you go. He's good folks!
