Yes, this is a freshwater report...My fishing podna had bass on the brain and that's all he could catch in our Redfish tournament today.....Tincan ended up landing about 10 Econfina bass, I could only manage to land one (fishing out the back of the boat, ya know

)....
Water was real shallow, some folks went walking today...
We (Tincan) caught the bass on rattling jerk baits and rattle traps. As long as I have been going to Econfina, this was my first time fishing the river and catching bass in it as well....Thanks for the first time Econfina bass Tincan
More later I'm tired.......

We did have a plan to catch a redfish. We went out of the river and headed to an area we had both caught redfish from, in the past. However, given yesterday's tides, the bottom was too close to the surface for my boat to float. I think this is a result of the 784 pound tacke bag my podna brought with him. So we went just above the mouth of the river, and started fishing, in hopes of finding a redfish that was lost.As my podna posted, we never found a redfish, but we did get into the bass. As my podna stated, I caught all but one of the bass. In all fairness to my podna, this is not because he doesn't know how to fish. In fact, he is a very good fisherman. However, we both would have caught many more bass, but I spent a lot of time trying to retrieve my podna's hung up lures. Even with my effort to get his baits back, he left about $3000 worth fo terminal tackle in the river.
Now, the tournament results (this was a redfish tournament). I was surprised at the participation yesterday. We probably had 12 boats show up. Only one team caught redfish. Hopefully, Jumptrout51 will post the details.

Yes, I left a fair amount of tackle in the lure in the rocks, trees and bushes...Just another excuse to show basspro, cabelas or anyone else my debit card
As TC said there was a good turn out for the tournament, I was surprised...
Another good day on the mighty Econfina River.....

Got it from out of town cold and snow and logged on to check for any Econfina posts: I would rather have been fishin'! So I thank you Chalk for this early report. I was too tired to respond last night but it was nice to see.

Thanks to TC for "the rest of the story."

Consider yourself privileged. The last bass that was kept on my boat was over 8 years ago. I like to turn them loose to fight another day.
