i have been checking out this site for over 2 years now and yall have been very helpful. i have a quick question, we fish out of keaton beach, 21' proline boat name "Git-R-Done". i am looking for a new bottom machine, dont really want to go with a split screen bottom/gps because we already have 2 gps on the boat, just really need a bottom machine. any suggestions would be very helpful. we fished saturday out of keaton and again noaa was wrong about the seas. we trolled about 4 miles because we could not get the anchor to hold. we have a alum. claw and it kept slipping because the seas. we had one quick hit but he was short. finally got hung up on about the 3 stop and caught 4 gags and 1 red all about 8-10# range. we could not catch any live bait an the marina did not have any. they would not touch ly's caught everything on boston mack. i think we had about 20 or so shorts. i think we would had better luck if the anchor would have held but it was a good time. please help me out with the bottom machine. thanks again

I have the Garmin 320C fish finder and love it. Didn't really want color when I got it....but it is really nice for bottom definition. It'll hold the botom real well at speed. Easy to install your self...

No complaints so far....except not enough time to use it!
There are others on here with the garmin fish finders as well.....

CRC, Sir Reel has suggested that I hang multiple electronics from a tower but I haven't taken him up on the idea yet so I can't help you with the choice of bottom machines... just wanted to say welcome !

Would that be "lifebouy" or "ivory"

.... perhaps "dial" as long as its chartreuse

If I ever get a new one it will be the Foruno 600L or 580. They are expensive (why I don't have one) but they are powerful. BTW, Welcome.
thanks

If you haven't bought a depth finder, take a look at the Eagle machines. I have a 480 DF (dual freq) and for $220, it beats the pants off my Garmin any day. It is a grayscale recorder, but it has great definition and works out to 1200 ft. (East coast, drifiting for swordfish-miami) if you are idling or drifting. I bought mine from outdoor world in Orlando, but you can order online...
