Any ideas where dog island reef is. My buddy and I are thinking of braving the sea in his 12 footer and I hear you can catch big fish within sight of land.

Any locations, holes, channels, ect?

YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE GOING BEYOND DOG IS. IN A 12' DINGY. THERE WERE 2 YOUNG FELLAS WENT OUT OVER AROUND KEATON THIS PAST WEEK AND GOT SWAMPED, BOTH DIED , HYPOTHERMIA.

Got to agree with PA on this one. DI Reef is no place for a small boat. Yes it is within sight of land and it is very close to dog island but you have to cross many miles of open bay to get to it. This is where it is though...

I wouldn't try it in a 12 foot boat....



Take note of the #2 navigation buoy on the west end of the reef.... It's in my Sig block....

Please don't try that in a 12' boat. I'm guilty of doing things that shouldn't be done in a boat, but if it got rough you guys could be in trouble. There's plenty of good places you can catch quality fish in a 12'er, so why even try it?

We have actually been out there. I didnt know that was dog Island reef.
