I have "aquired" some chicken coop wire and want to make a few pinfish traps. Can I just make them square with a few openings? Does a certain shape work better than other?

I thought about that but it looked like a "+" on a piece of paper. I need more than that to go by. I will have a look at that website and see if I can make one from that.

If at all possible

I would like to get a copy of the dimensions etc.... I have been wanting to make a trap for some time. I have spent hours searching the internet for plans but they are very tough to find.
If you can't share that is cool

I have 3 traps. 2 are red, 1 is black. The red traps consistently catch more pinfish than the black.....don't know why, it just happens. Same area, same depth, same bait (broken up LY's).

Thanks to nautigator I now am armed with the plans to make an atomic pinfish trap

I went to lowes and bought 10' of galvanized stiff wire mesh. I plan on painting it red too. I wonder why that works so well??

I went to Lowes and got a roll of galvanized wire mesh 24"x10'. I cut out all the pieces and started assembling them today after work. I would recommed a long sleeve shirt. My arm is all scrathed from the wires.

I am making it 24"x24"x8". I made it that narrow so it will be easy to store in the cuddy. I'll try to get a few pics of the progress.

It's done except for the paint. I took some pics but they are hard to see because of the silver color. After I paint it I will take some more.

Wow...Blast from the past! I used wire ties but the sun isn't very nice to them. I would recommend using wire ties to start and then use some SS wire. The wire ties will only last a few months (at the most) and your trap will fall apart.
