Fishing in Carrabelle
Posted: June 23rd, 2002, 12:28 am
After several days of wet and windy conditions, we finally got a break here in Carrabelle and managed to get a decent day for fishing. Hal and Kate Botsworth were the lucky party to join me on the "Sole Searcher" for a few hrs of flats action.
With days of gusty winds and heavy rains, the water was real muddy. Still and all, the Trout were hitting on every stop and we managed to get our limit using both shrimp tipped jigs and noisy top water plugs. A few Redfish on the back side of Bird Island added to the action.
As the wind began to diminish, we headed out to Dog Island Reef and picked up a few big Mackerel and the biggest Trout of the day which weighed in at 5.2 lbs.
This week, I have several inshore trips with a Tarpon trip in the mix. Hopefully, the water will clear up a bit and give us a chance at a good Tarpon.
The new addition to the "Sole Searcher" family, the 28' Sportcraft is ready to fish....And she'll carry 6 angers with room to spare!
Until next time, Tight Lines!
