My 1st post, so here goes.

I have been chomping at the bits to catch some trout. The weather report
didn't look to favorable. Left Thomasville @ 6:00 am. Not a good sign when you see 4 trailers @ Fort. Rained on us 3 times on the way to the flats. Made our 1st drift right in front of Lighthouse. We were using cajun thunders and doa jigs. The trout ate anything we threw at them. Every time we would motor out for another drift, we would move a little east. We wound up all the way over to the rocks. All fish were caught between 3 - 6 feet deep. We kept 7 from legal to 17 in. We lost probably 5-6 more keepers. All totaled, we caught 75-80 trout. The water temp on the flats was 67.5. The wind really got bad about 2 pm. I don't know how some of the small boats made it back in.

My 11 and 15 year old sons are now seriously hooked on trout fishing.

:-D Good deal sam, nice to see annother Tville angler. :-D What time was that water temp? What did it start at first thing? I hope to hit them soon myself. I usually go to Ecofina, wonder what the temp is there.

Most of the day, the water temp was between 66.8 to 67.5.
I got tired of catching so many small fish and tried top water
for a while. I had several hits, but they apppeared to be too small.
I also tried just jigs in electric chicken, yellow flake and white. They
were hitting all of them.

We did see a few pinfish on the flats. We were fishing with live shrimp
and would get their legs chewed off. My 15 year old had one of his
grubs chewed on pretty good. They all were really small though.

I probably saw you out there. We felt really lucky to stay out till about 3:30 and we left them biting. This is only my second trip to the coast of FL since I moved here and I am hooked. As far as what they were hitting we saw the same things you did. Sounds like you caught more keepers though. I just could,n't stand it and took vacation to go on Tuesday or Wednesday too. WHohoo! :smt077
