Got down there around 7:30 this AM for my first real attempt at saltwater fishin'. The Wakulla Beach road is a mess - lots of wash outs. Not too much standing water on the road but deep ruts where the water streamed across it. Looked like I was the first one down there today. Walked around to Goose Creek on the right during a rising tide. No luck on a blue / silver chug bug, nor a silver spoon nor a white jig. Later on, a real nice fella from Tally named Rob came down and showed me how to rig a CT setup with DOA shrimp. He ended up catching two really nice keeper trout before both of us headed in around 11:00. The wind down there today was fierce. Real strong outta the north. After seeing that CT rig in action, I stopped at Wallyworld and picked up the parts to put myself one together. I'll be back down there tomorrow, hopefully with some catches this time.

Good trip though - purty mornin' and some good advice from another fisherman.

I plan to head out there tomorrow afternoon with my kayak. Hopefully at least a couple trout will still be there to munch on something I'm throwing.

Howdy Dave. Welcome, and thanks for the report.
Question: Were you fishing from shore? Or did you wade? Did you go overland on the trail through the grass to the creek from Wakulla Beach and fish the oyster bars?
I have fished there a few times and am trying to figure out how you and Rob did it.
Thanks

Went back down there this morning with my Dad. We're both freshwater guys so it's a new game for each of us. Got there around 7:30 with the tide waaay out and walked around to the oyster bars again to the same spot as yesterday. Wind was SOO much better then yesterday! Two other fellas were already there, both working CT rigs. I ended up landing three trout, two smaller ones 15" and 12" and a nice 18". All came from about the same hole - two on DOA shrimp and one on a pearl minnow w/ an orange jig head. First trout catch ever and I'm hooked. Only fish caught by anybody by the time we left the bar all came from that one hole. Great morning fishin' and great to have Dad along!
Now if I can only get a boat ...

BTW - We were fishing on the oyster bar around the right from the boat ramp. Not wading, just standing on the bar and fishing the cut.
