Me and my daughter put the boat in at the fort at 7:30am this morning. The wind was already picking up. We were the only folks at the ramp and had the whole place to ourselves. I knew it was going to be a rough day, from the forecasts of 20-30mph winds. The plan was to just have some fun.

Made the run to the lighthouse. Whitecaps in the river were a bad sign. I had the wind at my back at 25mph. Got out in front of the lighthouse and got a few bites. Only saw two other boats headed toward the rock garden. (I wasn't the only idiot) Waves were evenly split between 2's and 2.5's. Wind really started kicking in and became too rough to fish. Dawned my brand new stearns rain suit (just the coat) and headed back to the hill in gale-force winds. Bad white-caps in the river, all the way up past marker 36. 10:30 boat back on the trailer after the three tries and some assistance from some kind on-lookers

Good news- didn't burn much gas, and had some fun riding the washing machine. Bad news- 1 short trout.

Morning on the river....
