Three of us left the c- river around 4:00pm yesterday, we cought several nice gags on some numbers inside the Yamaha reef. Proceded on to Bryson another gag and some small AJ s until dark. Proceded on to a honey hole just outside V tower when we got to our mark the bottom machine looked like a 60 ft christmas tree . Got ancored where we needed to be, smokem if you gotem or just dropem . by 2am we hed a three man limit of red snapper to 8lbs and a three man limit of Mangrove snapper to 7.5lbs. broke out the grill and had our fill of fish sandwiches went to sleep until baybreak and came back to the hill. They ate squid & sardines , we used circle hooks 40# flouro. leader& 3oz leads. Yall go catchem up

Do ya'll do a lot of night fshing? We usually go to the keys in the summer for two weeks and fish everynight the weather is safe for mangroves. You can catch all you want. The reefs are only about 6.5 or 7 miles out so getting out and back is quick. Of course on the panhandle it's a little longer haul. Any advice would be appreciated.

The question? doI do this alot..... answer is NO! I have a 22ft bay boat. Weather pattern is crucial so there fore it is usually a spur of the moment decision to go or to stay home. We were very fortunate the week of federal water snapper season opening the weather was 1 to 2 ft all week. It was like winnin LOTTO!!!! NO tellin when it will happen again for me unless a bigger boat becomes involved

I have 22' also but I'm not crazy about being out when it's dark & stormy in any size. We've only gotten caught out one time in the keys out of probably 30 trips at night and a lightningless storm hit us quick. Naturally the anchor was hung up so we cut the rope and had to fast idle in. The waves were so steep we were cavitating coming off the backs. I was real happy to see Bahia Honda and Wendy's that night. I also gave my GPS a hug because it was raining so hard I just watched it and nothing else. One question I guess I didn't ask you earlier was do the Mangroves turn on at dark like they do in the Keys. I do know they are spawning in June & July down there but just wondering about off the panhandle.

Sorry--no mangroves in the Panhandle or North Florida except for a few blacks out at Dog Island. Winter temps get too low up here, and the red mangroves with the giant prop roots that you so commonly see in S. Florida can't handle that. Wish we had a few up this way though...
