First boat and first post.

Hey folks,
Found the board a couple of weeks ago and have greatly enjoyed the dialogue. As the subject line indicates this is my first post and I recently purchased my first boat - an 18ft Sundance. After months of looking for the "right" boat - which means a "skinny" water boat that my young boys will feel safe in - I put the boys in the Sundance with its high sides and they were fit-to-be-tied
So first a disclaimer - I am not by any stretch of the imagination someone who should call himself "Mr Flats" but to have some fun asked my boys to help me come-up with a handle. After several "I cant use that because...." my veto limit was exceeded and Mr Flats it is
In fact I grew up in the foothills of the Adirondacks and fished my whole childhood on the rivers and lakes of the area. So this is a whole new ball of wax and we are LOVING IT!
We usually put in at the Old Fort and go down the St Marks and fish in that general area but have gone to Alligator Point Bay and Lanark/Dog Island. At this point I haven't developed a feel for the water and fish so I may ask lots of questions and hope that soon I will be able to contribute too.....
