Representing the simplicity camp, I was thinking that you could turn it on its side and then you wouldn't need the Hobie.

Yeah--it turns out that the biggest problem was trying to figure out how to jettison the whole rig if the seas reached more that 1-2 feet. We finally settled on explosive bolts. You may recall that NASA just delayed the scheduled launch of the new Space Shuttle. We were afraid that word had gotten to them about my explosive bolts and upcoming sea trials. I mean, can you imagine peering out the port of the Space Shuttle while in orbit, and seeing floating by--uhhh, never mind--guess we don't need to go there...
