Acetone and plastic fuel tanks?

Has any one tried cleaning contaminated plastic fuel tanks with acetone. I was sure I read about someone doing this on one of the forums but all searches have failed to find it. Maybe I dreamed it. The acetone label has A warning about plastics.
Thanx in advance.

Acetone will "melt" plastic.
How quickly and how badly , will depend on the strength of the Acetone and the quality of the plastic.
I have known people use a very diluted Acetone to clean out plastic containers, but after a while the containers start to leak from the closure fittings.
Not recommended.

It is varnish and what ever caused by premix setting in A tank for over A year.
