left about 5:00 friday after work headed with some of my buddies to panacea, we were going to try our luck with the snapper, bought all the bait and food for saturday, when we got the friday night! ($130 worth) went to the motel ($70.00) got us a bite to eat($20.00 dollars each for the buffet at the landing, great food)and hit the sack for an early start! left the motel about 4:45 headed to carrabelle, got to the boat ramp about 5:30 boat in the water by 5:45, the boat started right up, really getting excited now, but then i hear my buddies dad that is in the boat say oh
sh$t, the boat would not go into forward or reverse, so we take the boat out and sure enough the shifter would go back an forth but would not engage into gear. his dad is really pissed now, diamond eagle marine in valdosta had just put a brand new shifter in about a month ago and some other things to the boat, about $700 worth of stuff, but they failed to check an see if it went into gear after they replaced it! we checked like 3 places in carrabelle to see if anybody could help us but no luck! his dad is on the phone with them at diamond eagle, and he is not very happy, they say bring it back and they would look at it. when we get all the way back to valdosta they look at it for about 45 minutes and we are fixed, they just forgot to hook the shifter up. then they say lets go back to carrabelle and fish sunday, as much as i wanted to catch a snapper i did not want to go all the way back to carrabelle, at this point we have about $350 dollars to split up between 4 of us, did not want to stay in a motel again, so i suggested to lets go to keaton, we have a camper there and it wont cost us anything to stay there, finally the give in, we leave valdosta again about 12:00 headed to keaton, at this point i justed wanted to give up the day, just about the worst start to fishing trip i have ever been involved in or heard about! we hit the first hole at keaton about 3:30, seas are perfect. we must have hit them just right, back to the hill about 7:30 and ten grouper, we must have caught 25 or so shorts, i was feeling a little better now, none with any great size, all about 24-25". went out sunday for about 4 hours we caught 3 keepers with 1 red about 13lbs. and a handful of shorts, back in valdosta about 3:00. i dont think i have ever been this tired, did not want to get up and go to work this morning. oh yea saturday we marked this hole on the way out and decided to go bak and check it out, thats were we picked up about 6-or 7 of the keepers. i cahnged the name from MOB to the 400 mile hole because thats about how far we had travelded this weekend. well thats explains my weekend.
