Mother's Day at St Marks

Got to do what I wanted most on Mother’s Day and that’s fish with my son (and a friend)! What a great day. Started off not having to get up too early with an 8:30 a.m. low tide – things are going good already. At LH about 9:15 – no wait – no lack of parking spaces (opposite of what I heard about Saturday). Went east past grey mare to the next large rock that’s as big and has a tall white pvc pole marking it (could someone please tell me name of this rock – I don’t see it on area charts :smt017 ) Anyway set up a drift near ‘don’t know the name’ rock and starting catching soon thereafter but nothing of any size. I did lose a nice keeper right at the boat right off using a new Poppin’ Bomber Shrimp that was given to me (along with a gold Redfin) for Secretary’s Day! The fish really seemed to like the poppin shrimp (makes a sound like a chugbug) but seem to have trouble getting hooked – maybe I need to practice more with it – but from the fish interest seems worth a try. Redfin didn’t come with instructions so I’m not sure if you do “jerksâ€
