Are the poons running yet in the Big Bend area? I am looking for my first on the fly and I will be down next week. Thanks.

Good morning dan

I haven't heard any information as yet on the forum. However, we have a local guide, Jody Campbell who is going to be holding a class/seminar on the 12th. Here is a link with that information as well as a contact number for Jody. I would think he would be your best source for information. Good luck. :D

I read they are just starting to show up around Homossasa....Think it's later in the year before they become targetable from Keaton to Indian Pass...The cooler weather we have had this spring hasn't helped either....If you get one let us know....

Saw one.

Chalk,

Two weeks ago we saw one jump at the #6 marker leaving the fort. It was gorgeous. We didn't target them as we were rigged for grouper, but they're there, not sure how big the numbers are. This was on Sunday two weekends ago. Just an FYI.

Think we probably maintain a few resident one's, but their noted for migrating up and down the panhandle in the spring and fall....For some reason Indian Pass seems to be noted for them.....I hooked a large one years ago out from Econfina, you have not heard anything til you hear a tarpon rattle it's gill plates :-D
