St Marks - 5-14 - Slow
Posted: May 16th, 2005, 10:22 am
Launched just after low tide from LH. Went just off channel to the west waiting on friends in another boat to show up. Started catching shorts right off - in 30 minutes put two keeper trout, one mack in cooler. Other boat finally shows up - set up fishing beside me since the last 30 minutes produced keeper fish and several shorts. After they arrived only shorts seemed to bite. Decided to go east to spot that produced just last weekend. Nothing! Moved around some - nothing! Trolled a bit - Nada! Decided to go back to west. Put few more keepers (15.75-16") in cooler. Other boat only has three macks in cooler. They decide to go to Patty's we decide to head in - bite has all but stopped - ended day with
6 - trout (15.75-17")
1 - mack
1 - catfish
Water visability wasn't as good as last weekend - might of had something to do with slow bite. Talked to couple of other boats at landing and they had similiar reports. Didn't feel as bad then.
Also at the landing got to see a woman pulling out a sailboat run up under the tree by the landing (to the left facing landing where the sign is). Limbs rained down - mast bent in half and got stuck up in tree! What a mess!!
Already looking forward to going again.
