Motivated by the need to take the whole family fishing, I set up an early Saturday morning fishing trip. Put the boat in at the lighthouse at 7:00am. It was a miracle we made it there early. Set a course directly to the rock garden. The NOAA forecast was for winds 5-10 and decreasing. The wind forecast was WRONG…:

it was 10-15 most of the day till we got off the water.
Once we hit the garden, I set the wife up throwing a jig under a CT, and the kids with small rods to catch pins. I was throwing live shrimp Under a CT and doing some free lining. Lost count of the shorts after 30 or so. Caught one short bluefish 8â€

Dang MJ, that's awful. I think I'm w/ Wevans, I'd have gone in.
At least you can salvage that rod. Put a new one on yourself, or Bill Colson at Kevins will do it for about $10.

As always the pics were great. It's not always about catching fish - looks like ya'll had a ball

Can't think of a better way to spend the day with the family.

The last time I had one go out it was in 26 feet of water. I retrieved it before it got to the bottom.

MJ I think we have all had those days like you had.
It is hard to see a rod go over like that. When I was 16, I had a Penn 6/0 on a custom rod that went over in about 150' of water.

A barracuda came up and grabbed the bare hook swinging over the transom.

It was like slow motion I lunged for it and the butt of the rod just slipped away....
