Got down there around 8:00 am with light winds and a tide just about to fall. Headed over to the usual stompin' grounds in the canoe. Pretty early on hooked up with a red that seemed to take pleasure in hauling me all around his oyster bar. Only my second redfish since starting this whole saltwater bit and boy are they fun. They remind me of a bass - just bigger and don't jump as much. Fella measured in at 24". They don't seem to be making things up when they call those lures "Redfish Magic". He sucked that lure in pretty deep. Tide got lower and the bars didn't seem to produce any more reds, so I headed out to find some water that looked troutish. Worked a deeper grassy spot along the edge of a long shallow bar. Did a few drifts down it and ended up with a 16" and an 18" trout and four shorts. Ended up hooking one more short on the redfish magic on the way out (hoping for another red, as the tide was starting to submerge the bars again). Trout were caught on a green / red cocahoe minnow under a CT. Great morning on the water. -dave

- It's that time of year again when you can hear the gators bellowing out in the marsh...and boy does it give me the willies.

Only trout that hit the Magic was a scrappy little thing that was full of attitude but only about 10" long. -dave
