Sir Reel and I put in about 0830 this morning and headed south from The Fort. Fished an area west of the river most all day. Same song, different day. Many many shorts and 6 keepers. They bit a bottom jig early. Then they bit on a jig under CT the rest of the day. I fished with 10 different colors, and caught fish on all of them.

Water clarity was fair. We could distinguish the bottom in 4 feet. Water temp was 75 in the AM, up to 78 in the PM.

I don't know how many fish we caught. But it was a lot of catching for only 6 keepers.

The companionship was worth the trip.

Thanks for the day on the water TC! Boy was it pretty weather yesterday!! We (He) did catch a bunch of fish. I'd say that TC probably caught at least 3 to my 1 but I was much more relaxed at the end of the day :-D In addition to the trout we probably caught 5 or 6 hard tails... they do pull don't they! TC caught one small spanish and one small sea bass. I caught an 18 inch cobia and that was a good pull as well :D The top story for the day however, ..... I had been trailing a live pinfish (TC was catch'n them and ask'n if I wanted em  ) on my old Zebco One that I've had forever. Had one small shark and one cut off. Put on the last pin and put it out behind the boat. All of a sudden.... TC and I heard a loud POP! We both look around and all that is left is the handle of the "measur'n stick" rod stick'n out of the rod holder, everything else is GONE :o :smt013 We started going back over our drift to see if we could spot the silver reel on one of the sandy spots but "no joy". We kept looking for the CT to pop up but either it never did or we just didn't see it. I saw something big swim over one of the sandy patches but it didn't appear to be drag'n anything. Looked to be about a 3 1/2 to 4 ft cobia or shark. Don't know what happened with the reel although I suspect that either the drag stuck or the line was wrapped around the tip. I had the drag set very light so it would slip under any kind of pressure but lately the reel has been giving me some problems with the drag sticking and I'd have to back it off and then forward to where I wanted it. Anyway, it did serve to provide a bit of excitement and drama to our day. I'm always pleased to fish with TC and I appreciate an invitation from him anytime. :D

HI JOHN, SOUNDS LIKE YA HAD ABOUT THE SAME LUCK WE HAD THURS. IT IS THOSE DAMN NETTERS, THERE WAS A WHOLE HAY FIELD FLOATING ALL OVER THE FLATS, THEY ARE NOT ONLY GETTING ALL OF THE BIG TROUT BUT TEARING UP THE GRASS BEDS AS WELL. WHEN THE GRASS IS GONE SO WILL ALL OF THE FISH.
AT LEAST YA HAD FUN.
PA (AKA) ALMAR   :-D :-D
