Self-bailing deck

I have a center console boat with a self-bailing deck. I replaced the scuppers ( the ones with a rubber flap) about a year ago. They seem to be leaking again.
Does anyone know about the scuppers that utilize something like a ping pong ball. Do these work better than the rubber flap or not.
Or is there something better now.

West Marine makes a ball type scupper.. don't know if they work, but I'm going to try a set myself.
If you go to http://westmarine.com type scupper in the search box....they list the ball scupper for $11.00

Hey guys, tried those scuppers and didn't like them. The biggest gripe was the noise. With the waves rocking all I heard all day way those balls moving around.

The noise from the scuppers has worked pretty well for me....makes my carolina skiff sound just like a giant Cajun Thunder :smt005

Anyone know where to just get replacement rubber flaps.

You buy a boat and the hardware starts to go after about three years. The dealer doesn't stock it anymore.... love it.....

I got my last ones at West Marine.
Thinking strongly about using the ping ball type
this time.

I've never had a set of rubber flap scuppers that didn't leak, especially when launching the boat. My solution has been to keep drain plugs in the scupper holes from inside the boat. If I get some water on board (rain or rogue wave), I just pull the plugs, jump on plane, drain the water, then replace the plugs. You don't even have to tighten them down, as long as they're snug the water won't leak in.

I've been doing the same thing Sawbones. However, on my Carolina Skiff I had to put the plugs in from the outside. There's no way on God's green earth that I could reach them from the inside because of the rear deck configuration. Even if I could, I question whether I could manage to pull them if a bad wave came over the bow, stern, etc. Then there is always the possibility of gear (coolers, fuel containers, etc.??) sliding in front of the scuppers and making it difficult to get to them. :o I have a feeling that things would be very hectic at that point and I'd feel a whole lot better being able to stay at the wheel than leave and take a chance of my boat taking one broadside while I was diving for the plugs. That is why I've decided to go with the scuppers. (ball type) I have a bilge pump that is wired direct to the batteries but a 500gph pump won't make the kind of difference I would need (imo).... provided I still have juice. :smt102 Enter stage right, a manual bilge pump :D

When the waves come rockin', don't come knockin'.

Sorry.....
