It was a bit rough "not real bad though" had a couple small showers "I needed a shower anyhow"

Water temp is down to 78, water is very strired up "as expected", caught a very big "6 to 8 pound" Sail cat, a hard head, two shorts and a keeper Trout "all released" and kept a 21 inch Red

not to bad for being off the water at 8:30

Morning Wevans, My buddie took his Carolinia Skift out of Mashy Sands yesterday at the crack of dawn and they caught 3 reds and missed a few by chairs creek. A couple of those were 23-25 inchers. We have been doing really well over that way (Mashy Sands) on gold spoons for the last couple of months. Not bad for the day after the storm. He said he was about the only boat out. I said I was sure Old Walden was puttin around somewhere in the area.

DTK, I started to go over to Mashes Sands, but figured the fresh would be pouring out of the river

I gotta quit being such a hardhead about wanting to catch em on topwater

There was only one other boat put in at Bottoms when I left there at 8:30

Yep with a 8 month old and a 2 1/2 y/o at home I gotta pick my days. I told my buddie I figured the reds would probly be there since they don't seem as bothered by fresh water. I hate it when I'm right but not there!!!!!! Try the Grass on the south shore with a gold spoon...or a gold top water!! We have found recently that even with a trolling motor we spook too many. We have been catching twice as many finding a good point throwin the anchor and watching. We will sit for an hour or two on one spot, no action for 20-30 minutes then we see movement here and there. They move in and out and right under us. We have many more hook ups this way. Take care and hope to see ya on thew water! ~~D~~

Unless I am having no luck at all, I fish mostly with an 18 inch leader on the CT and if I suspect that a Red is nearby, I pull, not pop the CT "they scare the Reds when popped"
DTK, I seldom target Reds since the 1 fish restriction went into affect "unless I'm just fishing to fish and not for food"

I do appreciate the pointers though and will probably use them next week while on vacation
