Waited till ~6:10am for the gate to open at the refuge entrance :smt013 and was heading out of the channel at 6:30. We stopped just East of hte lighthouse for some bait catching and to try the trout. At 7:45 we headed south towards the St. Marks Reef cluster and motored around an early bird until we found just the right spot. About 15min after arrival our pinfish was taken by a nice cobia. I estimate through the 15 minute fight and seeing him about four times near the boat that he was 25-30lbs.. I didn't have any balloons so I used a torpedo cork and that is where the line broke :smt013 . Never again. We made due with a full day of nice spanish and a couple of other species until the bite slowed after lunch. Here is the tally...

Keeper Trout - 2 - one on live shrimp one on Top dog
Short Trout - 5 all on live shrimp
Hardtails - a million
Skipjack - 1
Spanish - 22 keepers on top dog, Yozuri jerk, and most on live shrimp
Cobia - 1...oh wait a minute - 0 :smt012 on a pinfish
Sharks - 1
Remora - 1

Aucilla - The Cobia in the picture was caught at Peter's Rock...I believe he had been hiding under the boat for about 20 minutes before we got a good enough look at him to realize we should fish under there. The one we lost last Saturday was in 20ft at St. Marks Reef.
