With my favorite (and only) daughter along for the ride, we put the boat in Alligator harbor at 7:30am under overcast skies.

My son would not get out of bed so it was just me and Shelley. Ran west to Turkey point to find either Trout or Spanish. First casts landed fun fighting Lady fish. Had a big strike on the stationary pole and landed a 3’ shark. Next cast a Gaff-top catfish. It was time to move. Water temp was already 84 degrees and the sun was just getting out. Water clarity was 8-9’ and it was beautiful. Moved out toward the sand bar over the grass flats and immediately started picking up shorts, mostly 14â€

That was a heck of a report! Sounds like a memorable trip for all! I have been caught there too, headed to Lanark, and had to beach and run for all the heavy lightening. But didn't you want to go out again AFTER the storm to cast just a couple more times??

Even though I was a little shook up, it was not enough to keep me from having a great fathers day, and enjoying the day with my daughter. Next time, I will keep a closer eye on the skies and head for the hill at the first sign of a severe storm.
