Will be in Carrabelle next week and would rather catch than fish. Anybody willing to give up a GPS# for snapper/grouper within 20 miles? I've got every public number on the net already loaded. Sure would like to have first keeper snapper in the boat.
Will

you long time!
Also, whats the best place to wash the rust/salt off while heading back to Atlanta on 98 or 319?

A friend of mine and his Dad frequent what they call "10 mile reef" and they always catch something....never ventured out there myself. They have caught grouper, kings and cobia in that vicinity. If you turn right on Apalachee Parkway about half a mile off 319 there is a carwash that--if you are good at sharp turns with a trailer--is pretty nice. I get my 17' Cape Horn in their with minimal trauma.

To Catch Snapper you need to head out to 70 foot of water. Honestly, head out to O tower look for good bottom on the depth finder and let down your snapper bait. Every time I go I find new bottom and catch more Snapper. Same is true for the Groupa....
People on the net gave me the same advice last year and I thought they were putting me off. Now I have dozens of tried and true spots. Like I said though each time I go I find new spots nearly as good as my best spots.
One other method is to use braided line with a stretch 30 and troll. When you catch a fish, mark the spot, run over it again, if you catch another anchor and have fun!
The last two times I went I caught Grouper, Kings and Bonita trolling. I like the Blue and yellow stretch 30, other folks may have other preferences.
I like cut LY or Sardines but live pin fish are always better.
Good Luck

One other thing, Snapper are getting fussy. Don't use too thick of leader nor too big of hook
