Panama City 07/03/05

Headed out the pass around 6:00 this morning...We stopped for baits around the buoys....Only caught a few and we decided to buy some bait, times money, money is time.....Captain punched his numbers in and off we went with "Ralph" number 1 was already on the rail......We arrive at our destination and drop down and commence to get the tale tale tap tap.....We caught a few good snaps and I caught my first scamp....We ended up moving around a few more times and all the places had good fish....I had some sea monster on for a few minutes until it pulled loose...It was a 12 hour charter, but we had to cut it short do to "Ralph" number 2, which almost became "jumper" number 1...I never heard of anyone wanting to jump over board....My dad had the big stick, he caught the biggest grouper...I ended up with 5-6 good snapper and some short grouper

If the "Ralph's" had not interfered with the fish catching we would have loaded the cooler, but still not a bad.....NOAA was wrong again, it was 2-3 with a 4-5 mixed in for good measure....

My azz is tired......

Last time I headed out of that pass, the Ralph on our boat was already heaving. We cleaned up on the fish, but it was ROUGH!
Should have known that when I pulled into the marina parking lot, and saw the flag was standing straight up on the pole.

I was at PC this weekend. We were offshore in my Sea Pro bay boat Sun. and Mon.. It was rough better monday. Lots of cigar minnows at the safe water marker. Had to try several sabiki's to find one they liked. Freelined cigar minnows around the bait school and scoolie kings would hit in less than a minute. Had 15# test on live bait rods. They were fun. Big hammerhead got a few of them. Got enough of that and ran out to 100'. Found some good bottom and culled through red snapper to get a limit. Sort of like trout fishing this year. Lots of shorts. Caught several grouper but no keepers.

A good time had by all. Sunday I did have to run my brother-in-law back in before he started calling Ralph.

One of the guys went out Saturday and caught some keeper Kings near the Whistle buoy....

Sirreel...The Boat is the "Freedom" (42'), Capt Jim Guinn...A 12 hour trip will cost 14 Franklins, it will hold 14 people and fish 8....Our trip was cut short by 3 hours, we would of filled the box if we had kept fishing. We are planning to another trip in the next month or so...minus them "Ralph's"

Hey we had 2 Ralph's on your boat Sunday too, lot of Ralph's this weekend. 2 fishing and 2 in the sick ward. We did manage to get 7 nice keeper grouper before giving up. Didin't get to dive all weekend , just too rough. 4 gags to 15lbs and 3 Reds to 10 lbs.

Whistle bouy thats where we were. We trolled Sun. for a couple of hours then when we went back to the bouy to get more live bait we freelined one back while we were catching bait and the bite was on. All keepers but we only kept two. My nephew had never eaten king. Pretty good fresh on the grill but not as good as the snapper.

I'm jealous you are living in PC now. The crowds probably get old though. I'll be glad to be back fishing in St. Marks. My sisters family had a place for the weekend and they invited my boat and I came with it.
