This is the first year I have had a boat and I don't know how to protect it against hurricane damage. Anyone have suggestions on measures one can take to protect their boat when it is kept outdoors? I live in Tallahassee and don't have it in a garage....

Thanks in advance!

About the best I can do is, locate away from trees if possible, fill with water if it's a fairly light boat "makes it harder to blow around" remove the batteries "don't want them under water" and pray :-D

Half way with water depending on your trailer and if the boats covered.

Make sure its insured :-D Thats really about the only "protection" you have if mother nature decides you don't need it anymore !!!

My hurricane preparations include the following:

Call your insurance company and make sure you are covered and all payments are up to date.

Hook the boat to the truck and load up everything I have to have.

Leave

Don't come back until things are cleaned up and power and water are restored.

Thats for storms three and above.

I had a Mako 20 that went thru Andrew in'92. We were hit with the blunt of the strom being just north of Homestead. I removed everything of value or that could fly off, flattened the tires and filled the hull with water.
Those that didnt secure their boats became flying projectiles.
