Crab Trap Floats = Unmarked Traps?

Got an email and pic today from my folks who went down to the Lighthouse last night. 'Said they counted over 60 crab trap floats that had washed into one of the pools after Dennis.
Does this mean that there are now 60 crab traps now unmarked in our bay?
I would have thought that any crabber would have hauled in all his traps before the storm. I do have a GPS point for a rogue trap that is located East of the LH and lies just inches below the surface. Who knows if it's still there...

That happened to me once. I hit it wide open throttle, flying across Ochlockonee Bay, low tide in the winter:
As you can see, Susan tried to fix it, using the paddle:
We were lucky that we figured out that the pair of needle-nosed pliers in her hand had a wire-cuttin' part...... But it was a dangerous job as there were a lot of sharp and slimey points on that thing as I cut it off.

Aucilla: Holy crap. That looks like it would put a serious hitch in your giddy-up.
I posted the #'s once before, but here they are again:

It's about 2 miles east of the LH, maybe 1/2 mile out, as best I can guess.
So far, I've never seen it to break the surface - but it's just barely down there. Well....it WAS....until Dennis. Who knows if it's still around...

They can be fun.....after this experience on the Econfina, I decided it would be a good idea to carry some small bolt cutters with me.
There wasn't any float, it was very low tide, trap was right in the center of the channel and had obviously been there quite some time....note the crusties on the trap.
